Surprise and Themed Wedding

The Civil Ceremony

My name is Graham Lambert and I am an authorised Civil Marriage Celebrant for the Commonwealth of Australia.

A Civil Marriage Celebrant is someone who has been appointed by the Australian Federal Department of the Attorney-General to solemnise marriages in Australia pursuant to sub section 39 (2) of the Marriage Act 1961.

I reside in the southern Perth suburb of Canning Vale. However at no extra cost I am happy to perform the professional and moving Civil Ceremony anywhere in the Perth Metropolitan area. I even go country as well.   So please contact me.

Fees Guide:

I charge two sets of fees for my services (in the Perth metropolitan area) and they are fixed in a quote to you after we agree upon what you want for your wedding. The following are guides till July 2008. Prices will only be confirmed once the couple have discussed the wedding arrangements with me and I have confirmed it in writing with you. The only reason the prices are set higher is petrol costs - Travel is the biggest component of my time and costs. I have budgeted that the costs will steadily rise over the next 2 years. If petrol price is over $1.40/l when the wedding takes place - generally I will add $10 to the prices below as a petrol surcharge.

From and To Saturday afternoons All other times
  $420 $370

What do you (generally) get for this price:

1. Rehearsal - included free at my home if required
2. A great sense of HUMOUR - see the testimonials
3. my Wedding Ceremony Guide booklet  - to help you work out the ceremony that you want - words , vows, pledges etc.
4. You choose the words and vows etc, I assist you to make the ceremony that you want.
5. Return travel to any location in the Perth Metropolitan area - see many locations

6. All the legal paperwork to register your marriage - as per law.
7. A presentation Marriage Certificate for you.
8. Provision of a table and nice table cloth.
9. A strong voice
10. A PA system that has a lapel microphone to pick up when you say your vows - it also has a CD player.

A non-refundable booking fee of  $150 (which is part of the total fee payable) is payable when you lodge your 'Notice of Intended Marriage'  or book the ceremony with me. This also confirms the booking date with me as well. Any fee remaining is paid at the second meeting at least two weeks prior to the wedding

Factors that may cause changes to the above prices include - interpreters, extra travel time or distance, overnight stays and accommodation, translation services, costs associated with special arrangements,  hire of specialised equipment or dress required by the couple. There may be other items but all of this will be discussed and negotiated before you need to pay the Booking Fee.

Please note: the wedding date and time is not booked until the Booking Fee is received by Graham. Also these prices are subject to fluctuation -varying according to the price of fuel. Once a wedding is booked and prices are quoted - they are locked in.

Meeting before the Wedding

I like to have two meetings with you prior to the wedding. The first meeting to take place not more than eighteen months and not less than one month and one day prior to your wedding and the second meeting to take place within the last two weeks immediately prior to your wedding. At the first meeting, you may complete a 'Notice of Intended Marriage' and I will discuss your ceremony with you and provide you with a booklet of ceremonies and suggested readings for you to peruse at your leisure. The meetings normally take place at my residence however special arrangements can be made for couples who reside interstate or overseas.

Ceremonies:

I am happy to assist you to develop a personalised ceremony for your special day by offering you a variety of ceremonies, poems, readings and vows to choose from. Alternatively, you may wish to write your own ceremony. You may wish to involve family members or special friends in your ceremony.

My major aim is for you to be happy with your ceremony for this most special day. After all, it's your ceremony, not mine, and I will assist you to ensure that your ceremony reflects your individual requirements and beliefs, at the same time ensuring that all legal requirements are met.

Your ceremony may be conducted in a park, garden, private residence, function centre or a place of special significance. See some venues

Ceremonies normally take approximately 30 minutes to complete, including the signing of the register and certificates.

It is important that you book your ceremony, time and venue with me as soon as you have determined these details.

Typical Civil Ceremony Structure:

There is no one single ceremony structure. There are some things that legally have to be said in some sort order of sequence, but the order for the non legal aspects are not critical. And for many of the sections there are a huge variety of options. I provide a booklet with many different options for Introductions, Readings/ Poems, The Asking, and the Ring Ceremony. These are available to couples on loan and after the legalities have been signed at the first meeting.

Introduction
(Explaining how the couple view marriage)
A Reading
(Which express the couple's love )
Monitum from the Marriage Act
(Legal statement)
Giving Away of the Bride
(Optional)
The Asking
(Traditional question)
Vows
(Legal statement)
Ring Ceremony
(With appropriate words)
Other Ceremony / Reading
Declaration of Marriage
Signing of Register and Certificates
Presentation of Couple to Family and friends

The wedding ceremony can be very formal or very relaxed, but its most important attribute is that it should reflect the personality and love of the couple being married.

A well designed wedding ceremony has a clear structure that flows smoothly, maintains everyone is interest and remains very personal and intimate throughout. The music and poetry should complement the promises and the setting, and the direction provided by the celebrant should be warm and inclusive. Everyone present should feel part of a very memorable event.

At the completion of the ceremony you will be required to sign the Marriage Register and Marriage Certificates, together with two witnesses and the Marriage Celebrant. You will be presented with your Marriage Certificate and a complimentary copy of your marriage ceremony.
Got a question, or want to check on a date, then either email me.

Please note: after you send an enquiry to me I will respond quickly. If I return your enquiry and indicate I am currently available to conduct your wedding - that means I have no confirmed bookings at that moment.  I may well have others interested in the same date and time but not confirmed yet. Bookings are only confirmed when the Booking Fee is paid and the Notice of Intended Marriage is with me ( or we have come to some arrangement about confirming the booking separately, in writing or over the email).
